Lighthouse Kennel Shining A Light on Rare Breeds

Northern Lights Dasher

Picture
Dasher was our first Chinook - a rescue from Alaska in 1996. Her first owner, Bob Johnson, had suffered a heart attack and could no longer keep his team of dogs. Dasher was skittish and shy when we first got her because she had been raised outside and was rarely around people, other than Bob. But once she adjusted, she was a lovely, sweet, gentle dog.  She was the third generation stemming from a Chinook and GSD breeding. It had been our hope to produce the 4th generation, and therefore eligible for purebred status with the Chinook Cross program. But a bacterial infection took her in 1998. Dasher was our introduction to the Chinook breed and we are so grateful she came into our lives and only wish she had been with us longer!
